  • US Senate finally confirms Northey for USDA leadership position

    The U.S. Senate confirmed the nomination of Iowa Secretary of Agriculture Bill Northey Feb. 27 as USDA Under Secretary for Farm Production and Conservation. Northey was nominated in September, but his confirmation was held up for months by Ted Cruz.
  • US DOE grants $10.6M to produce more biodiesel, biojet fuel

    The U.S. DOE awarded the University of Illinois a $10.6 million, five-year grant to transform two of the most productive crops in America into sustainable sources of biodiesel and biojet fuel. The new research project, ROGUE, kicked off Feb. 25.

  • US Department of Commerce issues final antidumping determination

    The commerce department found that biodiesel imports from Argentina and Indonesia are sold into the U.S. below fair value, and the cash deposit requirements on imports from these countries will be updated based on the final amount of dumping found.
  • Hawaii legislature considers 10 percent biofuel mandate

    Hawaii Sen. Lorraine Inouye introduced SB2019 requiring fuel to contain 10 percent biofuel. The bill passed a second reading in the Senate transportation and energy committee, and moves to the ways and means committee Feb. 23 for decision-making.
